Latin America Loses Faith in Obama

Ahead of the president’s trip to the Summit of the Americas this weekend, Gallup reports that Latin America is losing faith in President Obama. Specifically, the Gallup shows that only 24 percent of respondents in Latin American countries now believe Obama will strengthen ties between Latin America and the U.S.—in 2009, by contrast, that number was 43 percent.

“Gallup studies suggest that people in many Latin American countries do not believe Obama has strengthened the mutually beneficial relationships he pledged to pursue at the 2009 Summit of the Americas,” the report reads. “Obama will need to convince a highly skeptical audience that the U.S. is serious about its key commitments to Latin America.”

Parents of murdered British students criticise Barack Obama

The parents of two British students murdered in Florida have criticised President Barack Obama for his lack of compassion over their son's deaths.

His failure to respond to three letters sent to the White House was because there was no "political value" and not worthy of a few minutes of his time.

They spoke out as teenager Shawn Tyson began a life sentence after being found guilty of the murder of James Cooper and James Kouzaris last April.

The 17 year old, who shot the men as they begged for their lives, will die in prison.

His conviction of first degree murder carries an mandatory life sentence without the chance of parole.

The powerfully built teen even looked bored as emotional DVD presentations about the dead men prepared by their grieving parents were shown in court.

House rejects Bowles-Simpson, Obama budgets

The Bowles-Simpson deficit-reduction plan went down to a crushing defeat in the House late Wednesday night in a vote that damages the one bipartisan proposal that just a few months ago had seemed like a possible solution to the country’s debt woes.

The 382-38 defeat, with just 16 Republicans and 22 Democrats voting for it, marks a bad end to what began nearly two years ago, when President Obama tapped former White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles, a Democrat, and former Sen. Alan Simpson, a Republican, to lead a deficit-reduction committee.

Their report has popped up in every deficit discussion since then, but had never gotten a vote in either chamber until this week, when opponents prevailed.

“This doesn’t go big. This doesn’t tackle the problem. This doesn’t do the big things,” said Rep. Paul D. Ryan, Wisconsin Republican and chairman of the Budget Committee. “You can never get the debt under control if you don’t deal with our health care entitlement programs.”

The debate came as the House worked its way through its fiscal year 2013 budget plan, which Mr. Ryan wrote.
The Bowles-Simpson plan was offered as an alternative on the chamber floor.

Minutes earlier, the House also defeated Mr. Obama’s own budget, submitted last month, on a 414-0 vote arranged by Republicans to embarrass the president and officially shelve his plan.

Dislike the US? But who cares?

Has anyone read the article in the NY Times, "Pew Global Attitudes Project", says how many in the world dislike the US?
That say "the image of the United States has improved slightly in many countries over the past year. On the other, the new optimism appears to be driven largely by the fact that Bush will soon be leaving office."

They say the slow down in the US economy is hurting them. Then they blame the US for global warming. The image of the United States remains largely negative, hurt by the war in Iraq and the mistreatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo bay, Cuba.

First, this is not the only time the US has been viewed negatively. A lot of it has to do with envy.

We have the most powerful military in the world. The US has the largest economy in the world. So when the US economy slows down so does the worlds. The US has the most influential culture in the world. Our movies are seen world wide. Our fashion is copied world wide. Our music is heard worldwide. How many other country's can say that? The world watches US politics. Almost everyone knows who the US president is.

We get blamed for "Global warming". The largest economy in the world gets blamed for something that may not be happening. But you can't argue about it. When it snows in May it's "Global warming". When it's 95 deg. it's "Global warming". Just hype.

What other country has reduced it's "carbon footprint" like the US? Since the EU signed the Kyoto accord and the US has not signed the accord, the US has lowered it's "Carbon footprint" more than the EU has. China and India don't have to follow the same rules as other countries.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper once called the Kyoto accord a "socialist scheme" designed to suck money out of rich countries. The Kyoto accord was just a way to punish the US and it's economy.

They say the image of the US is hurt by the Iraq war and such.
This is from the same countries that have been at war since the beginning of time. If they would have taken care of their own country, World war I and II would not have happened.
The US sent troops "overseas" to help win those wars.
Not to mention The Marshall Plan to help Europe after the war.
Now they complain of the US being at war, in their backyard.
If they and the UN would have done their job in the first place
we would not be there now.
Europe is the continent of appeasement. Just what is Europe and the UN doing about Iran, besides talk?
And just to make the enemy happy, the US Supreme Court is giving the prisoners at Guantanamo bay the same rights as US citizens.

The US gives more foreign aid in food , money and military support than any other country in the world.
The US and George Bush has vowed 9 billion dollars in aid to Africa.
The US gives the UN more money than any other country.
We give food and medical supplies to Cuba.
Every time there is a disaster in the world the US is there to help.
Every time there is an ally that needs military support, the US is there.
And what do we get for the help? Those we help, vote against us at the UN.

Example of that is India. We gave India 134 million dollars in 1998 and for the thanks, India voted against the US at the UN 81% of the time. We gave Haiti over 100 million dollars and they voted against the US 61% of the time. The list goes on, check the chart.

To those that don't like the US, that's good. If it was up to me, I would stop sending aid to all those that voted against us.
You don't like us, that's good. I would pull all our troops out of your country.
You still don't like us, maybe we should stop trading with you.

Just don't ask the US for help. Ask Iran or China or North Korea.

And for those in the US that don't like the US.
And it's aways the same, left wing and Hollywood types.
People like Susan Sarandon who says she will move out of the country if someone she doesn't like becomes president.
Those like Sarandon and Jane "Hanoi" Fonda and Ed Asner and the rest, the bus is leaving for Cuba, get on it. I'm driving.
