NRA: More Popular Than Obama?

At time of this blog posting, Obama's latest three-day rolling job approval rating on Gallup.com was 53 percent, while 41 percent disapprove. Susan Jones of CNSNews.com notes the National Rifle Association has a higher rating (margin of error not included):
"Fifty-four percent of Americans said they have a favorable opinion of the NRA, while 38 percent have an unfavorable opinion, according to a USA Today/Gallup Poll conducted Dec. 19-22."
Jones added the public's opinion of the NRA has fluctuated in the years since Gallup began measuring it in 1993, from a low of 42 percent favorable in 1995 to a high of 60 percent favorable in 2005.
The NRA's press conference came midway through the field period of this December 19-22 poll. Liberals might say that the NRA looked worse after that, or you could argue that the field period was hot on the heels of the Newtown massacre.
