MYFOXNY.COM - Some New York City chefs and restaurant owners are taking aim at a bill introduced in the New York Legislature that, if passed, would ban the use of salt in restaurant cooking.
"No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises," the bill, A. 10129 , states in part.
The legislation, which Assemblyman Felix Ortiz , D-Brooklyn, introduced on March 5, would fine restaurants $1,000 for each violation.
"The consumer needs to make their own health choices. Just as doctors and the occasional visit to a hospital can't truly control how a person chooses to maintain their health, neither can chefs nor the occasional visit to a restaurant," said Jeff Nathan, the executive chef and co-owner of Abigael's on Broadway. "Modifying trans fats and sodium intake needs to be home based for optimal health. Regulating restaurants will not solve this health issue."

New York governor defends soda tax

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Governor David Paterson reiterated his position on Monday that a tax on sugary soft drinks is needed to curb obesity and recoup some of the billions of dollars a year spent on healthcare to treat people with diabetes and other diseases.

Sarah Palin's Canadian Health Care

Sarah Palin's recent statement that, presumably during her childhood, she and her family used to cross the border from Alaska to take advantage of Canada's health care system is not really a gaffe or a verbal slipup, but offers an interesting insight into Palin. It is not exactly surprising, or even"ironic," to use Palin's words, that somebody who has made a name, and a great deal of money, for herself by linking health care reform to some kind of socialist bogeyman, used to take advantage of socialized medicine.
huffingtonpost.

Kliphnote: It was all over the news of Palin and her
family going to Canada for health care.
Oh, how could she go to Canada, it's "socialized medicine."
Did anybody think, she was a child. And it was the closest hospital.
And her family payed their own way.
And maybe, just maybe.......it was before Canada had "socialized medicine."

The left wing can never say anything good about Palin.
And she is a private citizen.
Of course they never have anything good to say about any Conservative.
Anyone who is pro life is dragged in the mud.
But if you're for killing the unborn you're a hero.

When I first heard about the salt ban bill I said it must be a Democrat.
And I was right.
The same with New York Governor (D) David Paterson and his soda tax.
Why is always Democrats that want the government telling it's citizens what to do.
Government, get off my back!
The Nanny State.
