Sotomayor backers urge reporters to probe New Haven firefighter
WASHINGTON — Supporters of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor are quietly targeting the Connecticut firefighter who's at the center of Sotomayor's most controversial ruling.
On the eve of Sotomayor's Senate confirmation hearing, her advocates have been urging journalists to scrutinize what one called the "troubled and litigious work history" of firefighter Frank Ricci.
Kliphnote: Remember you can not question Obama on anything he does. And if you are just a "regular guy" just shut your mouth, you are talking to the King. Off with your head. And if you are a white male and you score better on a test, Too bad. You lose. Also she thinks the 2nd Amendment is a states right issue. State rights are what is NOT in the bill of rights. The 2nd Amendment IS in the bill of rights. She is wrong.
She will not interpret the Constitution she will rewrite it. Like most on the left.
Also remember, 60% of Sotomayor's decisions have been overturned by a higher court. That alone should tell you she is not qualified. It's like having the rev. Jesse Jackson or rev. Al Sharpton. Far left. And biased. I can't wait for the retribution for slavery. How do you think that will turn out?
Republican lawmakers said Obama's reaction to President Manuel Zelaya's ouster had placed the US in line with the presidents of Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicaragua.
"By calling this a coup and by early statements insisting on the reinstatement of Mr Zelaya, the administration now stands with the likes of (Hugo) Chavez, (Evo) Morales and (Daniel) Ortega, and not with the Honduran people," Republican Connie Mack said during a hearing by a panel of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Obama doesn't want to look back, but Attorney General Eric Holder may probe Bush-era torture anyway.
(CNN) -- President Obama has ordered national security officials to look into allegations that the Bush administration resisted efforts to investigate a CIA-backed Afghan warlord over the killings of hundreds of Taliban prisoners in 2001.
Just like a 3rd world country, go after your predecessor.
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - PresidentBarack Obama promised Pope Benedict on Friday that he would do everything possible to reduce the number of abortions in the United States, the Vatican said.
Kliphnote: Just great, lying to the Pope. Obama wants anyone that wants to have an abortion to have one, and the tax payer will pay for it. Anywhere in the world. Mexico city policy. Late term abortion.
President Barack Obama said his $787 billion stimulus bill “has worked as intended” as he pushed back against Republican criticism that his recovery program has failed to rescue the economy.
Summers turns sombre: “I don’t think the worst is over ... It’s very likely that more jobs will be lost. It would not be surprising if GDP has not yet reached its low. What does appear to be true is that the sense of panic in the markets and freefall in the economy has subsided and one does not have the sense of a situation as out of control as a few months ago.”
Kliphnote: Well what is it? Unemployment is going up. If you really want the economy to work you have to lower the capital gains tax, to zero. And lower the cooperate tax. But if you want to be like Europe, a social democracy. And as Marx said, "redistribution of wealth". You do what Obama is doing.
PEWASHINGTON — President Obama, faced with dimming prospects that Congress will meet his August deadline to pass health care legislation, steps into the chaotic debate this week to push Congress to act and reassure Americans that they will not end up paying more for less.
Kliphnote: How is Obama going to pay for his health care? Read my lips...MORE TAXES. And he will tax the middle class. If and when we get National /Social / Government run health care, you may not like it. Waiting list and rationing. If you're 80 years old you don't need hip replacement. If you're 75 you don't need heart by-pass. Live with it....as long as you can.
Al Gore: Cap And Trade Carbon Tax Is A Step Toward A World Government
Which critics of global warming alarmism such as myself have been saying is the goal of the environmentalists more so than any sort of rescue from a global warming apocalypse. This is why hypocrites such as Al Gore and Barack Obama can tell us to sacrifice in our personal lives for the sake of “global warming” even as they themselves live amidst a carbon footprint roughly the size of that emitted by a small town.
Kliphnote:
It's happening. Look around and what do you see. Look past the surface of the water, look beyond the trees. And what do you see? Look down the road, past the curve.
What do you see. More goverment control.
1984, Rollerball, Logan's run, a Utopia you think,
but it will all lead to..............Dystopia! Mark my word.
And you thought gas prices were going down, Ha. The price of oil has dropped almost $10, to about $60 barrel. And it should go lower. The average price for gas should be about $2.25 by this fall. But that is the bad news, it will be too low. People do not want to drive mini cars. People like their SUV's and pickup trucks. But the little green people don't.
And they are the ones that is the base for Obama. If the price of gas is too low, the New GM(Government Motors) will not sell many cars.
And may go under. Obama does not want that to happen. It was his idea.
Obama has mandated that the New GM sell mini death trap cars.
That was the only way the Old GM would get any goverment money.
And that is why GM's CEO Rick Wagoner got fired, by Obama.
He did not want to go through bankrupcy, but he need a loan from the goverment. Obama said " you want the money, do as I say".
That is why no one has heard from Wagoner since than. He was told to keep his mouth shut.
As I was saying, gas is too low, expect a gas tax. BIG time. The turning point seem to be $4.00 a gal. for gas. It will be a direct tax or an indirect tax.
Like Cap and Trade or National sales tax or VAT.
But some way it will go up, count on it.
PEGGY NOONANN God Is Back
In the wake of an atrocity, he shows he hasn't forsaken New York.
Friday, September 28, 2001 12:01 A.M. EDT
God is back. He's bursting out all over. It's a beautiful thing to see.
Random data to support the assertion:
In the past 17 days, since the big terrible thing, our country has, unconsciously but quite clearly, chosen a new national anthem. It is "God Bless America," the song everyone sang in the days after the blasts to show they loved their country. It's what they sang on television, it's what kids sang in school, it's what families sang in New York at 7 p.m. the Friday after the atrocity when we all went outside with our candles and stood together in little groups in front of big apartment buildings. A friend of mine told me you could hear it on Park Avenue from uptown to downtown, the soft choruses wafting from block to block.
