  • The Obama administration grants Miranda rights to detainees in Afghanistan.

You have foreign fighters who are targeting US troops today -- foreign fighters who go to another country to kill Americans. We capture them and they're reading them their rights -- Mirandizing these foreign fighters," says Representative Mike Rogers, who recently met with military, intelligence and law enforcement officials on a fact-finding trip to Afghanistan. https://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/016/605iidws.asp
I find this just unbelievable. I hope it is not true. If it is true it just shows how out of touch Obama is.
If they need a lawyer, I'm sure the ACLU will help
"F
oreign fighters..trying to kill Americans".
  • House Republicans Offer Alternative Energy Bill

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans are calling for a hundred new nuclear power plants to be built in the next two decades as part of legislation they say is a better alternative than one championed by Democrats.

The legislation unveiled by the GOP Wednesday would increase production of oil and gas offshore, fast-track refinery construction and establish a trust fund using oil and gas royalties to invest in renewable energy.

But unlike the Democratic bill, which has the support of the White House, it would not set mandatory targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions or for producing electricity from renewable sources.

Republican leaders said they prefer incentives to switch to cleaner energy sources, rather than mandates that they say disrupt the economy.

Lots of luck trying to get this passed by a Democratic congress and Obama. No chance in hell will Obama's left wing base allow this. The GOP is just wasting time if they think Obama will let this go. LOL

  • Release of interrogation files would endanger security, CIA tells judge

CIA Director Leon Panetta says the enemy would learn too much. The ACLU has sued to make the agency cables public.

Washington -- CIA Director Leon Panetta told a federal judge Monday that releasing documents about the agency's terrorism interrogations would harm national security.

Panetta sent an affidavit to New York federal judge Alvin Hellerstein, arguing that release of agency cables describing tough interrogation methods used on Al Qaeda suspects would tell the enemy too much.

The CIA director filed the papers in a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union. The suit has already led to the unveiling of Bush administration legal memos authorizing harsh methods and to a fight over releasing photos of abused detainees.

ACLU by name, sounds like they are looking out for American Liberties, but they are not.
  • Possible compromise emerges in health care debate

WASHINGTON – A potential compromise emerged Wednesday on one of the most vexing issues of the health care overhaul debate — whether to create a new government-sponsored health plan to compete with private insurers. The compromise offered by Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., would create health care cooperatives owned by groups of residents and small businesses, similar to how electric or other cooperatives operate.

They'd be nonprofit, and without the government involvement that troubles Republicans and business groups about the public plan options. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090611/ap_on_go_co/us_health_overhaul

Kliphnotes : Just remember Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are going broke. And the only way to pay for them is through higher taxes.

But we can all remember that "Paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do".

Question of the day, would you vote for someone who was for "Protecting the unborn; cutting taxes and spending; saving marriage; drilling here; winning in Iraq; keeping our military strong; kicking bad boys out of Washington"

Would you vote for that person?
