Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s willingness to speak her mind has triggered death threats toward her and her family from some unbalanced individuals. And understandably enough, that has her parents worried, Politico reports.
The parents, Chuck and Sally Heath, told the BBC that the Palin family has received many death threats since the former vice presidential candidate gained national prominence. “As a mother I do have concerns about her safety and that of the kids,” Palin’s mother said. “She knows how I feel, that it's risky.”
One man recently sent the family a photocopied receipt of a gun he’d purchased, Palin’s father said. The man was later arrested by the FBI, but Chuck Heath says the family is concerned nonetheless. “We sleep with the guns,” he said.
COMMENTARY | Regular Fox News contributor and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin criticized comedienne Kathy Griffin for her verbal attacks on Palin's children. She spoke to Fox News about her concerns.
"Kathy Griffin can do anything to me or say anything about me, because...she's a 50 year-old bully.... She can do those things to me...I would just ask for respect of my children," Palin told Fox.
The tea party favorite was referring to Griffin's New Year's resolution to take down Willow Palin, Sarah's 16 year-old daughter.

HHS posted 126 new waivers on Friday, bringing the total to 1,040 organizations that have been granted a one-year exemption from a new coverage requirement included in the healthcare reform law enacted almost a year ago. Waivers have become a hot-button issue for Republicans, eager to expose any vulnerabilities in the reform law.
