Obama wins Nobel Peace

Analysis: He won, but for what?

WASHINGTON – The awarding of the Nobel Peace Price to President Barack Obama landed with a shock on darkened, still-asleep Washington. He won! For what?

OSLO/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for offering the world hope and striving for nuclear disarmament in a surprise award that drew both warm praise and sharp criticism.

The bestowal of one of the world's top accolades on a president less than nine months in office, who has yet to score a major foreign policy success, was greeted with gasps of astonishment from journalists at the announcement in Oslo.

The award of this year’s Nobel peace prize to President Obama will be met with widespread incredulity, consternation in many capitals and probably deep embarrassment by the President himself.

Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world

Kliphnote:

The deadline for nominations is Feb. 1, meaning the president was nominated after being
in office for just 11 days.
For what? He hasn't done anything, NOTHING!
This makes the prize a joke. It was a joke when Al Gore won. How about Jimmy Carter.
Let me see............all Liberals.
Nominated 11 days after he took office. Who nominated him and why was he nominated? Who ever nominated him may have nominated before he took office. At least they thought about it before he was in office. What did anyone expect? Obama promised to make America weak. And the Eurotrash likes that.
Now will Obama increase troops levels after winning the Peace Prize?

How about Ronald Reagan for winning the cold war?
