It sounds like a good idea.
(I hope this is not taking sales away from next year)
Until you find out that they have to destroy the
car and the engine.
You may say "so what?".
Some of these cars are in good shape.
These cars could be used by those
that can't afford a new car.
Just a waste of a good car!
Besides that, the auto workers
like the "Cash for Clunkers".
At least the auto workers in Japan
and South Korea.
It should have been "Made in USA" only.

It very much should have been made in US only. Just like the original Buy US Clause that was in the stimulus package but was later taken out.
The program has its flaws, no doubt, but new car sales are up because of it.
New car sales are up for now.
But did they take away from next years sales?
Besides, some good cars are being destroyed.
What this does is take good used cars off the market.
If I were looking for a cheap used car, as a second car, I may not find one.
And the price of used cars may go up.
