GAS PRICES

What happened to the Democratic plan to lower gas prices?
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, April 18,2006:
"Democrats have a plan to lower gas prices, taking America in a new
direction that works for everyone, not just the few. Our plan would
empower the Federal Trade Commission to crack down on price gouging to
help bring down skyrocketing gas prices, increase production of
alternative fuels, and rescind the billions of dollars in taxpayer
subsidies, tax breaks, and royalty relief given to big oil and gas
companies."
And that was at $70 a barrel.
"the House passed anti-price gouging legislation to protect Americans
from being gouged at the pump and set our nation on a path toward
lower gas prices."
"To Free America from Dependence on Foreign Oil, we will Achieve
energy independence
for America by 2020 by eliminating reliance on oil from the Middle East"
But all Pelosi can do is blame Bush.
But it's Bush that wants to drill for more oil in the US, and Pelosi
and the rest of the Democrats and
some left leaning Republicans won't let him. As the price of gas keeps going up.
Since January 2007, the first month for the Democrats in office, oil
prices are up by more than 113%
Pelosi and the Democratic congress refuses to allow drilling for oil
in the outer continent shelf and ANWR.
We have enough oil right here in the US to be oil independent, but we
can't drill for any.
In the mean time other countries are drilling for oil.
Brazil recently announced it has found as much as 33 billion barrels
of oil off its coast. Elsewhere in our own hemisphere, both Colombia
and Peru have similarly had big oil and gas finds.
What they think will save us is Ethanol.
Ethanol is 20% to 30% less efficient than gasoline, making it more
expensive per highway mile.
It takes 450 pounds of corn to produce the ethanol to fill one SUV tank.
That's enough corn to feed one person for a year.
Now people are starving because the price of food has gone up.
This Democratic congress and Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry
Reid have to be
the biggest Do Nothing Congress, EVER.
Can someone tell me what they have done, anything?
